In March and April 2026, the PSSI project team completed a fieldwork campaign in Pamplona Alta, San Juan de Miraflores (Lima, Peru). This work was done together with our main project partner, Habitat for Humanity (Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter), with local support on the ground from TECHO and a team of local volunteers.
Before going to the field, we organized training sessions for the volunteer enumerators. The team learned about the goals of the PSSI project, passive design, thermal comfort, and self-built housing. They were also trained on how to conduct ethical interviews and fill out the survey forms correctly.
After the training, the team visited previously selected homes in Pamplona Alta to interview families and look at their building conditions. These visits helped us collect important information on:
